Washington State vs. Arizona State: Cougars are blown out, blog reacts

The Coug Center can't really say too much about the Cougars latest loss.

Allan Henry-US PRESSWIRE

It's pretty silent in the Coug Center.

Silence can often befall even the chattiest of blogs when their team gets blown out in a stinkbomb of a late season ballgame such as the one on Saturday where the Washington St. Cougars lost to the Arizona St. Sun Devils, 46-7.

It was as if the Sun Devils had waited all season to face the Cougars so they could unleash the frustration of their up-and-down season upon a hapless bunch that wouldn't know what hit them.

We'll start with official stats from the game, which should probably be rated NC-17.

When your stats are so graphic that you pretty much need a high school diploma in order to stomach them, you had a bad game. The Cougars were outgained 561 to 241, including a 260 to 1 disadvantage in the running game. Nineteen rushes produced just one yard. Good times all around.

The musical chairs being played at the quarterback position between Jeff Tuel and Connor Halliday isn't helping the cause for continuity. The season is almost over and the Cougs still don't know who they are as a team. But they do know that 46-7 and the victim of the wrath of a team that just ended its own four-game losing streak is real and it's here.

Time to deal with it.
