Michael Bumpus Playing Soccer For Tacoma Tide FC

In today's "where are they now," we check-in on former Washington State wide receiver Michael Bumpus. After graduating from Washington State, Bumpus went undrafted, but spent time with the Seattle Seahawks on both the practice squad and the 53-man roster in 2008, catching five passes for 48 yards and a touchdown. His career went downhill, though, and Bumpus headed to Canada to play for the BC Lions the following year. Now, Bumpus has gone the route of Chad Ochocinco and appears to be pursuing a soccer career here in the Northwest.

Sounder at Heart's Dave Clark passed along a press release on Monday that caught my eye. The Tacoma Tide FC announced Bumpus has made it through the open tryout and received a callback to attend practice sessions with the team this week. Bumpus is one of 32 players to receive an invitation to the next stage of the process, and was working on the back line, at right back, during the open tryout.
