Washington State and Oklahoma State received some good news this morning as early results from the second round of the NIT came rolling in. Boston College, the No. 1 seed in the Cougars’ and Cowboys’ section of the bracket lost to Northwestern on Saturday, 85-67, ensuring the winner of Monday’s WSU-OSU game would have hosting duties with a spot in the Final Four on the line.
No matter who wins, No. 4 seed Northwestern will have to travel again, either heading to Pullman or Stillwater for its third round game. Instead of a quick turnaround from Monday’s game to a regional final game in Boston, the Cougars and Cowboys will be able to sleep in their own beds and prepare on their own courts next week.
Washington State and Oklahoma State tip it off at 8:30 p.m. on Monday at Beasley Coliseum in Pullman in the final second round game of the 2011 NIT. The updated bracket for Washington State’s region is as follows.
Upper right bracket:
No. 4 Northwestern Wildcats def. No. 1 Boston College Eagles, 85-67
No. 2 Washington St. Cougars vs. No. 3 Oklahoma St. Cowboys
