2011 NIT Tournament Bracket: Ken Bone Ready For Long Beach State

Washington State Cougars head coach Ken Bone will get his first taste of the postseason in Pullman when the Cougs take on Long Beach State in the NIT on Wednesday. Washington State found its fate out as the NIT brackets were revealed on Sunday a few hours after the NCAA Tournament field was announced. The Cougars drew a No. 2 seed in the NIT putting them in prime position to make a deep run in the tournament.

Head coach Ken Bone took to Twitter following the announcement with a standard message about the game.

Excited about the opportunity to compete in the NIT. We will host Long Beach State here in Pullman on Wednesday night at 7 PM (ESPN U).

Bone is understandably excited about the chance to gain more experience for his team. While it’s not the biggest prize of them all — the NCAA Tournament — Washington State fans will get at least one more chance to watch Klay Thompson play at Beasley Coliseum. Thompson may decided to declare for the NBA Draft following the season and missed the Cougars’ final regular season game in Pullman after an arrest for marijuana possession.

The NIT gets underway on Tuesday and Washington State hits the court on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. on ESPNU. For more on the NIT, check out the rest of our NIT bracket StoryStream. To get a Washington State feel, be sure to stop by SB Nation’s CougCenter..
