2011 NIT Bracket, Schedule: NIT Kicks Off On Tuesday; Washington State Plays Wednesday

In case you missed the NIT Selection Show, SB Nation has compiled the entire NIT bracket and schedule. The NIT begins on Tuesday and continues on Wednesday, when the Washington State Cougars will make a grand entrance into the tournament, facing Long Beach State in Pullman. Alabama, Boston College, Colorado and Virginia Tech received No. 1 seeds in the NIT and are guaranteed hosting duties throughout the tournament ahead of the Final Four at Madison Square Garden.

Washington State has a fun path to the Final Four, beginning with Long Beach State on Wednesday. If the Cougars will, they’ll host either Harvard or Oklahoma State in the second round. Harvard missed the NCAA Tournament by a fraction of an inch on Saturday, losing to Princeton in a one-game playoff for the Ivy League title and automatic NCAA Tournament bid. The Crimson are the easy upset pick in the NIT, with experts already predicting Harvard will knock-off Oklahoma State.

Boston College has the top-seed in the Cougars’ region and will take-on McNeese State in the first round. Northwestern is the No. 4 seed, set to face No. 5 Milwaukee. The Cougars would have to beat Long Beach State, Harvard/Oklahoma State and one of the top-half teams to earn a trip to Madison Square Garden. It’s a long road, but Washington State has a good chance at a deep postseason run in the NIT.
