WSU Vs. UCLA: Cougars Lose By A Final Score Of 28-25 As Bruins Score Late

The Cougars lost at the Rose Bowl once again thanks to last-minute heroics by UCLA.

With WSU clinging to a 25-20 lead late in the fourth quarter, Bruins quarterback Kevin Prince threw a hail Mary pass to Nelson Rosario, who hauled it in one-handed for a 58-yard gain that ended on WSU's 10-yard line. After a touchdown and a two-point conversion, UCLA led 28-25.

With over three minutes left, Marshall Lobbestael led the Cougars back to midfield with hopes to score again and clinch the win. Unfortunately, he threw a third-down interception to Andrew Abbott, which allowed the Bruins to run out the clock and pick up a victory.

The final story in this game will be the missed opportunities by the Cougars defense. After three early possessions pushed them into or very near to the UCLA red zone, they were only able to come away with three first-half field goals. They were unable to find the end zone until the second half, where their scoring was two touchdown passes and a fourth field goal from Andrew Furney.
