As the Washington State Cougars head down to sunny Southern California to take on the UCLA Bruins, the elephant in the room remains the question of quarterback Jeff Tuel's status with his broken collarbone healed enough to begin practicing again.
Head Coach Paul Wulff said a few days ago that they wil start backup Marshall Lobbestael even though Tuel has been cleared. The collarbone is a delicate injury that can easily be re-injured, so Wulff is likely erring on the side of caution here. Lobbestael has been solid as his replacement though, giving the Cougs some confidence as the travel to take on the Bruins.
