WSU vs. UCLA: Marshall Lobbestael Starting For The Cougars This Saturday

The Washington St. Cougars won't have to worry about a quarterback controversy at least this week. Jeff Tuel might be the starting QB soon enough, but Marshall Lobbestael is looking like he's going to be the guy against the UCLA Bruins. Vince Grippi of The Spokesman-Review has this to sayT.

Paul Wulff said that Marshall Lobbestael will be the guy, and it still not clear whether Tuel will even play. It's expected Tuel will to try to cut it loose this week to see how his shoulder feels. As Wulff said, they want to get Tuel some quality reps, but Lobbestael will get a majority of the reps with the ones.

Nice to see Lobbestael get his chance, and nice to see Wulff not rush Tuel back into service. The Bruins defense hasn't been that impressive this season and hasn't gotten much pressure on the quarterback, so it makes sense that Lobbestael would be entrusted with the responsibility on Saturday night.

Washington State does have a bit of a luxury compared to previous years though. Most football teams would love to have a choice between Lobbestael and Tuel at starting quarterback. You know, a team like UCLA, for instance ...
