UCLA Bruins quarterback Kevin Prince has been dealing with a knee injury suffered against the Texas Longhorns last week, moving gingerly in practice all week. On Thursday, Prince aggravated that injury on his first play, putting his status for Saturday’s game against WSU in doubt.
ESPN’s Peter Yoon had the report from practice in Westwood yesterday.
Coach Rick Neuheisel said he was going to wait until game time to decide if Prince or backup Richard Brehaut would start Saturday, but it’s looking more and more as if the odds are against Prince playing.
“The chances are diminished,” Neuheisel said. “But I’m not ruling him out yet.”
As Yoon says, if Prince can’t go, sophomore Richard Brehaut will take the reins against WSU. Prince runs well for the Bruins and directs the UCLA option attack well out of the pistol. Without him, they’ll be missing an experienced starter that’s more of a rushing thread than Brehaut.
