Washington Huskies tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins is one of three finalists for the 2012 John Mackey Award, which is given to the best tight end in the country, it was announced on Monday.
The 6'6" Seferian-Jenkins joins Stanford senior Zach Ertz and Notre Dame senior Tyler Eifert as finalists. Just a sophomore, Seferian-Jenkins has had a stellar season for the Huskies with 58 catches for 751 yards and five touchdowns on the season.
He has already set the Huskies' career mark for tight ends in both total yards and receptions in a single season in just two years. For his career so far, Seferian-Jenkins has 99 receptions for 1291 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Previous John Mackey Award winners include Heath Miller, Aaron Hernandez, Fred Davis, Dallas Clark and Kellen Winslow.
The award will be given out during the Home Depot College Football Awards show on Dec. 6 at 4:30 p.m. PT on ESPN.
