The Washington Huskies had probably three top in-state targets they were looking at from this class: Mariner running back KeiVarae Russell, Puyallup offensive lineman Josh Garnett, and Lakes offensive lineman Zach Banner. They went zero for three.
Banner committed to the USC Trojans over Washington and Oklahoma at his announcement at Lakes. Banner says he will play two sports with both basketball and football on the docket, and he figures to be part of a strong (if not huge) recruiting class for Lane Kiffin and the Men of Troy.
Washington now has a very thin offensive line class, now that they've missed out on both of the top in-state offensive line recruits, with Garnett headed to Stanford and Banner on his way to USC. Nathan Dean, Jake Eldrenkamp and Cory English are three capable players for UW, but I know the Huskies would've liked to have at least one of Garnett or Banner.
