Washington Vs. Utah: Huskies Depth Chart Reveals Crucial Defensive Changes

The Washington Huskies face off with the Utah Utes with a thinned defensive line, as Hau'oli Jamora is out for the season and will be replaced by redshirt freshman Josh Shirley.

The Washington Huskies suffered significant injuries against the California Golden Bears on Saturday afternoon, which could cause them all sorts of trouble down the road when they face the more potent Pac-12 offenses. For more on the Washington depth chart, download this week's PDF.

Here are the most significant changes in the Huskies depth chart.

  • UW defensive end Hau'oli Jamora is out, tearing his ACL. The Huskies will have to replace Jamora with talented redshirt freshman Josh Shirley and a group by committee, the Athletics Department reports.
  • Everrette Thompson will move from defensive tackle to defensive end primarily; Thompson has played well as a tackle, but his quickness could be used outside.
  • Sione Potoa'e will now move into defensive tackle position.
  • Linebacker John Timu looks perfectly healthy after sustaining a scary-looking neck injury, but he's back practicing.
  • Running back Johri Fogerson had a bruised nerve on his knee. The Huskies don't yet know of his availability for Saturday.
