Shaq Thompson Seriously Considering Washington Huskies

One of the top athletes on the West Coast might not be just taking trips for the fun of it. Shaquille Thompson is actively looking around, and the Washington Huskies football program are one of the top targets. Inna Lazarev of Scout ($) and Greg Biggins of ESPN ($) caught up with the Grant High safety, and this is a free quote from the stories.

"I had a great time, I was actually surprised how nice it was up there," Thompson said. "I didn't really know what to expect coming in to be honest but the trip as a whole was better than I thought it would be. It's a real family atmosphere at UW and I loved being around the players and coaches."

Shaq has long been considered a Cal lean because of the Grant connection--Vei Moala and Puka Lopa committed to Cal last year, and his brother Syd'Quan Thompson is one of the best cover corners in Golden Bear history.  However, the presence of friend and fellow defensive back James Sample in Seattle would be a nice presence to tempt him toward the Northwest. As time wears on in the process it's not a huge surprise that he'd be recipient to other offers. Right now it looks like Washington and Cal are the two leaders to land him come LOI day.
