Washington Huskies football fall practice has been noteworthy for its lack of news. Well no longer. And it's not the good type of news for UW fans.
According to the Daily UW, linebacker Victor Burnett has checked out of his dorm and been dismissed from the team. The UWPD was standing by when Burnett left, although he is not under investigation. The issue seems to be team-related, although no one has elaborated on any specifics.
Burnett was considered a solid if unspectacular pickup from the 2010 recruiting class--he was considered about a three-star, top 20 inside linebacker prospect from Culver City by all the major recruiting services. But with Mason Foster moving on to the pros, Burnett was expected to ascend to the Huskies two-deep chart as a potential middle linebacker as he battled with Thomas Tutogi or Tim Tucker in his redshirt season. This departure puts pressure on Cort Dennison to stay healthy and carry the load on the inside.
