Mark Ingram Named NCAA Football 12 Cover Athlete As Jake Locker Falls Just Short

Washington quarterback Jake Locker had a chance to make the cover of EA Sports NCAA Football 12, but fell just short in the fan vote as Alabama's Mark Ingram took home the top prize. Following the 2010 college football season, EA Sports held a nationwide vote on its Facebook page as Locker, Ingram, Nick Fairley and DeMarco Murray all vied for the cover. On Tuesday morning, EA Sports announced the winner, and it was Ingram, the former Heisman winner from the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Though he missed out on the cover, EA Sports did run cover shoots for all four finalists before the voting concluded. Check out video of Locker's shoot, with a behind the scenes look from EA's Facebook page.

Locker may be receiving a fine consolation prize, though, as it's looking more likely he ends up being picked in the early part of the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft. In fact, Locker may end up off the board before any of the other three cover finalists, with Fairley the only player projected as a high first round pick.

For Washington fans dying to have Locker on the cover, there's always a way. Build you own, slip it in the case and you can have your own Locker custom cover. For more on the contest, check out EA Sports' NCAA Football 12 Facebook page.
