2011 NCAA Basketball Tournament Bracket: East Region A Tough Draw For Washington

The Washington Huskies are officially in the NCAA Tournament with a No. 7 seed in the East region. In the first round, the Huskies draw the Georgia Bulldogs in Charlotte, North Carolina. It’s the first time these two programs have met on the basketball court, making for an intriguing first round matchup in the NCAA Tournament.

If the Huskies can get by Georgia, the road gets even more tough in the second round. Washington will not only face a No. 2 seed, they’ll have the added task of facing North Carolina on what amounts to its home court. The odds are stacked against the Huskies, but as we’ve seen so far this March, Washington tends to rise to the occasion.

Here’s a look at the East region of the NCAA Tournament bracket to give you an idea of what the Huskies are up against.

1 Ohio State vs. 16 UTSA or 16 Alabama State
8 George Mason vs. 9 Villanova
5 West Virginia vs. 12 UAB or Clemson
4 Kentucky vs. 13 Princeton
6 Xavier vs. 11 Marquette
3 Syracuse vs. 14 Indiana State
