De'Anthony Thomas reportedly informed USC head coach Lane Kiffin that he would announce Oregon as his college choice in a ceremony tonight on Los Angeles television. The word went out to Kiffin and the USC staff on Monday, but it may not be the end of Thomas' recruiting saga. With just hours to go until he reveals his choice to the world, there appears to be disagreement in Thomas' inner-circle, with his mother still wanting him to choose the Trojans.
This all came from ESPN recruiting analyst Greg Biggins, speaking on Oregon radio just moments ago.
Biggins just told Justin and I that De'Anthony Thomas told Kiffin on Monday he was going to Oregon. Mom is now wavering to Oregon however.
This jives with what's been reported all week thus far. Biggins said yesterday he expected Thomas to sign with the Ducks when all was said and done. However, the fact that Thomas' mother is wavering adds another plot-line in a story that already has had numerous twists and turns in the last few days.
Where will Thomas go? We'll know with the rest of the world this evening when Thomas announces his decision at 6 p.m. Should he pull the trigger and switch to Oregon, the Ducks' class will likely vault into the top-five in the nation, leapfrogging USC's. All things considered, though, both schools have put together excellent classes this year.
