Nick Montana is about to get his chance at quarterback. Washington Huskies head coach Steve Sarkisian announced that he will be starting Montana over the injured Keith Price this weekend against the Oregon St. Beavers.
Montana's stats have been alright against solid competition. He came in against Oregon after Price had been banged up. Montana threw only one pass, but it was a long completion down the sideline for 53 yards. After Price was injured and knocked out of the game against the Trojans, Montana came in and performed adequately, completing 60% of his 15 attempts but only for a meager 4.9 yards per attempt.
Montana isn't likely to be the focal point of the offense against a weak OSU defensive front. That job will fall to Chris Polk, who was bottled up the last few weeks. But Montana needs to be ready to provide Polk the support he needs if he doesn't want the Beavers to load up on the inside.
