Ron Holmes, one of the greatest Washington Huskies defensive lineman of all time, died today. He was 48 years old.
↵Holmes, who went to school at Lace, was a two time All-Amerian at Washington and was on the famed 1984 football team that finished second in the nation after beating Oklahoma. His 1983 season is one for the ages, amassing 23.5 tackles for loss, which still stands as a Husky school record. Holmes was drafted ninth by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and spent eight years in the NFL with the Bucs and the Denver Broncos.
↵Bob Condotta caught up with Holmes in 2002 and found out he was working on an industrial and commercial cleaning business. It looks as if he returned to his roots in Lacey and was coaching football before his death.
