US Army All American Bowl 2011: James Sample Commits To Washington

As we just said, business was about to pick up for Washington in the US Army All American Bowl. It happened right out of halftime as Grant Union High School safety James Sample put on a Washington cap and chose to commit to the Huskies. Same is a physical safety that can either play in the secondary or move up to linebacker depending on what he grows into.

Sample is listed as a four-star safety, part of a talented crop of players from Grant High School in California. His teammate, Viliami Moala will also commit later in the game. Sample announced his presence early in the All-American Bowl, laying the lumber on a quick wide receiver screen in the first half. He’s drawn plays from the announcers for his physical nature and the ability to rally to the ball and make plays.

Yet again in 2011, Steve Sarkisian gets a huge pickup in the recruiting game. The Huskies now have three players on the West squad in the 2011 US Army All-American Bowl, with Sample joining Kasen Williams and Austin Seferian-Jenkins. It’s looking to be another monster recruiting year for Sarkisian and the Huskies, who are already seeing a boost from their Holiday Bowl victory over Nebraska.
