Reports are surfacing indicating the Washington Huskies will face the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the Holiday Bowl. The Huskies and Cornhuskers faced-off in Seattle on Sept. 18, with Nebraska blowing out Washington, 56-21. The Holiday Bowl invite would mean Alamo Bowl passed on both Washington and Nebraska, choosing the Arizona Wildcats and Oklahoma State Cowboys.
Omaha sports reporter Tom Shatel tweeted the news moments ago.
This just in: sources say Neb will play Wash in Holiday. Insight apparently passed on Neb. More details to follow.
The official announcements will be made at 5:30 p.m. tonight, but this fits with the rumblings we've heard all day. The Huskies will again have to find a way to shut down Taylor Martinez and the explosive Cornhusker offense. More importantly, Washington quarterback Jake Locker gets another shot at redemption after completing just 4-20 passes against the talented Nebraska secondary in Seattle. Washington comes into the game on a three-game winning streak with their backs against the wall and bowl eligibility on the line.
The Holiday Bowl takes place Dec. 30 in San Diego.
