The USA Today Coaches’ Poll followed the AP Poll, listing nary a Pac-10 team in the top 25. The Washington Huskies are still knocking on the door and remained the top vote-getter of all the Pac-10 teams. Washington State’s name also appeared in the poll as the Cougars picked up a few more votes following the Diamond Head Classic.
The Huskies snagged 38 votes in the Coaches’ Poll this week, good for 29th place. The Cougars continue their slow ascent toward the top 25, receiving seven votes in the poll, good for 38th place. Gonzaga was also in the rankings, receiving one vote.
USC, included in the AP Poll’s others receiving votes category, was not in the Coaches’ Poll. Arizona was, however, garnering two votes this week. It’s been tough sledding for the Pac-10 after a difficult non-conference schedule in which the conference failed to make a name for itself.
Washington and Washington State open Pac-10 play on Wednesday against USC and UCLA, respectively.
