With just over a minute left in today’s UCLA-Oregon State game, Kai Forbath — usually tough as nails — missed a 46-yard field goal that would’ve given the Bruins the lead. UCLA stopped Oregon State on the next possession and drove 56 yards to get into field goal range and give Forbath a chance at redemption. He didn’t miss again. A 51-yard Forbath field goal as time expired gave UCLA a 17-14 win over the Beavers at the Rose Bowl this evening.
UCLA quarterback Richard Brehaut used his legs more than his arm against the Beavers, rushing for 60 yards and a touchdown while adding 13 completions for 127 yards. Johnathon Franklin carried the ball 13 times for 80 yards and a touchdown. Taylor Embree caught two passes for 54 yards to lead the Bruin receivers.
Jacquizz Rodgers had an uncharacteristically slow game for the Beavers, only rushing for 64 yards on 14 carries. Ryan Katz completed 18-26 passes for 163 yards and a touchdown. Joe Halahuni caught 5 balls for 60 yards and a touchdown.
The Beavers fall to 4-4 on the year while the Bruins improve to 4-5. UCLA is on a bye next week before heading to Seattle to take on the Washington Huskies on Nov. 18. OSU heads home to take on the Washington State Cougars next weekend.
