2010 Maui Invitational: Terrence Jones Drops 29, Kentucky Wins, 76-64

The Maui Invitational was a coming out party for Terrence Jones today. The freshman from Portland put on a show against the Oklahoma Sooners, scoring 29 points and grabbing 13 rebounds to lead the Kentucky Wildcats to a 76-64 win in the first round.

It was an easy victory for the Wildcats, who lead this one from start to finish. Besides Jones, Kentucky got the bulk of its scoring from Brandon Knight, DeAndre Liggins and Doron Lamb. Knight scored 13 points, while Lamb and Liggins added 12 apiece. The star of the show, however, was clearly Jones.

Oklahoma was led by Cade Davis. The senior guard, playing all but one minute, scored 23 points and pulled down six rebounds. Andrew Fitzgerald added 14 points and Carl Blair chipped-in 10. Nick Thompson also added six rebounds for the Sooners.

Kentucky moves on for a likely date with the Washington Huskies, pitting Jones against the team he briefly committed to earlier this year. Oklahoma faces the loser of the Washington-Virginia match-up.
