Washington Sputters, Falls To ASU 24-14

Washington sputtered down the stretch, failing to converted at critical moments and falling to Arizona State 24-14.

Jake Locker was inconsistent at times, completing 23 of 38 passes for 209 yards, one touchdown and one interception. There were plenty of opportunities for the Huskies, but a late interception in the endzone ended their hopes and allowed the Sun Devils to run out the clock. Locker, playing after being sick all week, was slowed a bit and didn’t seem his usual self.

D’Andre Goodwin led the Husky receivers, hauling in eight passes for 78 yards. Chris Polk also carried the load, running for 110 yards on 18 carries. It wasn’t enough, however, as ASU made the stops when they needed to preserve the victory.

Washington falls to 1-1 in the Pac-10, and 2-3 overall, with the loss. The Huskies look to get back on-track next week against Oregon State at Husky Stadium.
