When Hikeem Stewart announced his verbal commitment to Washington, one of the first things he wanted to do was make sure his friend, and highly touted prospect, Tony Wroten Jr. joined him. Today that happened, as the Garfield senior announced he’d be attending Washington in a press conference streamed live on the Internet.
The Seattle Times’ Mason Kelley caught up with Wroten after the press conference and asked him about playing with Stewart.
“We’ve been best friends since third grade,” Stewart said. “We told each other every day since eighth grade we’ve got to play together in college. It’s true now, arguably two of the best players on the West Coast on the same team.”
Playing in front of his hometown has always been important for Wroten. Joining a recruiting class that’s shaping up to be a big one for Washington head coach Lorenzo Romar is the icing on the cake.
