Sounders Take A 2-1 Win To Estadio Corona, But There's Still A Lot Of Work To Be Done

The Seattle Sounders made a statement this evening against Santos Laguna, winning 2-1 and having a legitimate case for deserving a better result. David Estrada put Seattle on top 12 minutes in, and a strong defensive effort from the Sounders looked the hold the lead until a a sublime Herculez Gomez finish drew the Hoops level in the 62st minute.

It didn't take long for the Sounders to respond, with Brad Evans giving the Sounders the advantage just two minutes later with a perfect header from a Mauro Rosales set piece. The Sounders will take a tenuous advantage to Torreon, with a result as slim as 1-0 sending Santos Laguna to the semi-finals. Still, this was a big win for the Souders as they dominated nearly all 90 minutes of the game and certainly gave Santos Laguna a whole lot to think about ahead of the return leg of the tie.
