Remember all the criticism of Fredy Montero? All the talk about how he's paid to score goals, wasn't getting it done and deserved to be on the bench? Remember how this Seattle Sounders team struggled, with and without him on the pitch? On Saturday evening, with one ferocious strike of the boot in the 90th minute of a tied game between the Sounders and Toronto FC, Montero reminded us all why we love him, and gave Seattle the win in the process.
Here's Montero, doing what he does best and striking a lovely free kick to give Seattle the win.
Eric Hassli abused the Seattle Sounders with the goal of the week, and perhaps year, last week. This week it was Montero's turn to do the same to Toronto. You're not going to see a much better free kick than his -- yes, there was one last week -- and it came at the perfect time. Seattle was down to 10 men, on the road at Toronto and desperately needed a win.
Welcome back, Fredy. We've missed you.
