Well Sounders fans, if you felt like you got off easy after the MLS Expansion Draft here comes big momma reality to punch you right in whichever part of your anatomy might be most sensitive:

@KING5Sports has learned that #Sounders broadcaster Arlo White is moving on. He's expected to be the lead voice for NBC's soccer coverage.

This is one of those times where this is good news for pretty much everyone but us. Arlo gets a more high-profile position, American soccer fans get a massive upgrade over the dross to which they're usually subjected and most folks are better off for it. But we aren't most folks, utilitarianism is a cruel mistress and "mega-huge bummer" is probably the best way to describe this. Arlo has become, in so many ways, a huge part of this club's identity.

Clearly, in terms of the on-field product there won't be any negative impact. But for those of us that have been lucky enough to hear him describe some of the biggest moments in franchise history, found ourselves seated next to him at Starfire or had some banter about the under-appreciated footballing genius that is Emile Heskey, well, this is going to leave a huge hole in our gameday experience. I'm thrilled that Arlo is moving on to bigger and better things, but from a selfish perspective this sucks a whole lot.
