Seahawks' head coach Pete Carroll gave his daily post-practice press conference on Friday and had some notable sits/starts for this Saturday's matchup with the Titans. First off, as we've already told you, presumed starting right guard John Moffitt is going to miss most or all of the preseason with an elbow injury he sustained on Thursday. He'll have surgery to clean up a few foreign bodies in that area and then is slated to miss 2-3 weeks. In his place, veteran Deuce Lutui and rookies Rishaw Johnson and J.R. Sweezy will get long looks as the team tries to settle the depth chart at that position.
Carroll also noted that WRs Sidney Rice, Doug Baldwin, Ricardo Lockette and newly signed Terrell Owens will sit on Saturday. Pro Bowl RB Marshawn Lynch will also get the day off - presumably just for safety sake, as no specific injury was reported. At this point, it doesn't look like Tarvaris Jackson or Josh Portis will see much action under center.
With these players sitting, look for Golden Tate, Ben Obomanu, Braylon Edwards, Deon Butler, Kris Durham and a host of other receiver hopefuls to catch passes from Matt Flynn and Russell Wilson. Look for Robert Turbin, Leon Washington, Tyrell Sutton, Kregg Lumpkin and Vai Taua to get the bulk of the carries on the ground.
