This offseason the Seattle Seahawks addressed the QB position by signing free agent QB Matt Flynn, as well as drafting Wisconsin QB Russell Wilson in the 3rd round of the NFL Draft.
As mock drafts begin to come out for the 2013 class, some still feel the Seahawks will be looking to fill a perceived hole at QB next April.
In the latest mock draft from The Big Lead, the Seahawks select USC QB Matt Barkley with the 4th overall pick.
4. Seahawks - Matt Barkley, QB, USC. Reunited with Pete Carroll. Matt Flynn's contract was only a 3-year deal. Barkley will be over-analyzed big-time this season.
While I agree that Matt Flynn's contract was set up in such a way that the 'Hawks could part ways easily and early, and know that Pete Carroll would love a reunion with Barkley - whom he recruited to and coached at USC, I'm just not convinced this is possible.
It just sees unrealistic at this point to think that Seattle will have a poor enough season to be drafting that high. Also, most experts feel that Barkley will be the number one overall pick in 2013, so it's a bit of a reach that he would even be available that late if the Seahawks did draft there.
Guess we'll find out in a few months just how plausible this scenario is.
