CBSSports.com's Will Brinson published his most recent mock draft on Tuesday and laid out an interesting scenario for the Seahawks, projecting that they'll trade their second-round pick to swap spots with Jacksonville in the first round to nab Texas A&M's Ryan Tannehill. Per Brinson:
7. Seattle Seahawks (Mock trade from Jacksonville)
Ryan Tannehill, QB, Texas A&M: For only a second-round pick and a swap of first-round picks, the Seahawks are able to hop the two teams -- Miami and Kansas City -- that might nab Tannehill from them. And say what you want about the Matt Flynn signing, but Carroll's reportedly been "giggling like a schoolgirl" over the quarterback and he's had little rhyme or reason behind his acquisition of signal callers.
This is prediction makes a lot of sense from Brinson, as it comes on the heels of a Peter King report that said the Seahawks are very, very interested in Tannehill. Whether this is true or is but a smokescreen by Seattle's front office remains to be seen, but a trade-up scenario is very hard for me to picture happening. John Schneider -- who subscribes to and has been a big part of the Green Bay mode of drafting that heavily favors trading back and acquiring more picks -- is likely already uncomfortable with merely six picks this year, and I doubt he'd trade up and give up another. It's just my opinion, but even if the Hawks do like Tannehill as much as King says, I just can't see them trading up to try to grab him, even if it would be relatively inexpensive. We'll see soon enough!
