NFL Mock Draft 2012: Seattle Seahawks Pick Melvin Ingram, Lavonte David

The Seattle Seahawks have some decisions to make regarding who they pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. With no real priorities, Seattle might just spend time upgrading the defensive side of the football to make them one of the more complete units in the league.

DraftTek released its latest mock, and it has the Seahawks going defense with their first two picks. First Seattle goes ahead and takes Melvin ingram with the 12th pick in the first round, the defensive end from South Carolina.

It seems plenty of Seahawks fans out there are hoping Carroll and Co. will be able to trade down the board in order to secure more picks, either for this year (Hawks lack a 5th rounder) or for 2013. However, trading down is easier said than done as it requires another team which actually wants to move up. No matter what happens, the Hawks will target "their" guy just as they have done the past 2 drafts. Is that guy Ingram? Stay tuned 12th men, we're just over 2 weeks away from finding out!

In the second round, Seattle gets another edge rusher, this time someone who can come from the outside linebacking spot and provide that extra punch. Lavonte David is their choice with the 43rd pick.

While a hybrid DE/OLB like Ingram should provide the pass rush boost the Hawks have sorely needed, it doesn't help to improve the Hawks lack of coverage in the short passing game. The Seahawks were brutalized underneath all last year, and they need to find someone who can keep pace with the Darren Sproles and Gronkowski's of the world. With his ability to move sideline-to-sideline and blanket TE's, David is one of the best coverage LB's in the draft.
