NFL Free Agency 2012: Mario Williams On His Way to Buffalo

Rumors, rumors, rumors. And visits, visits, visits. That's what the first day of free agency is all about.

There seems to be a popular belief among NFL analysts that the Seahawks will be major players in the race to obtain former Houston Texans defensive end Mario Williams, but it appears they'll have to wait for him to go to Buffalo first. At 6'6" and 283 pounds, and as the 2006 NFL Draft's #1 overall selection, there's no wonder that Mario Williams would be a spectacular addition to any NFL team.

With the Seahawks desperately in need of a pass rush, many NFL experts seem to think that they will be in strong contention to sign Williams. ESPN's John Clayton asked teams within the NFC West about the Seahawks pushing for Mario Williams. Clayton was convinced that the teams of the NFC West believe the Hawks will aggressively pursue Williams.

"This is from teams in the division," John Clayton said. "They think that Seattle is going to be one of the main teams [pursuing] Mario Williams. They really do."

Now that NFL free agency period is officially underway, let's hope that the experts are correct and the Seahawks make smart moves to obtain the physical, pass-rushing force that they desperately need.
