Oregon Ducks running back LaMichael James is one of those great college players that you're not certain will
Draft Tek released his latest new mock draft, and James is going fairly high up. In this mock, James was picked 62nd in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. Find out more about why by clicking here.
On the offensive side of the ball, adding an electric playmaker like LaMichael James will give the 49ers greater confidence (and expanded playbook opportunities) in spelling Frank Gore, and thereby prolonging Gore's legs into the post-season. Yes James is undersized (5'9", 185 lb) and has legs that go dead on contact, but he has mid 4.4 speed, is dangerously elusive in open space, and has reliable hands.. He brings a "home run" bat to the plate, and when he's not on the field, he is improving his football IQ by devouring game tape. .
Still, the 49ers could use a change-of-pace to make their offense a little more explosive, and James might be that kind of runner who gives San Francisco something different and makes their offense more versatile. If LaMichael can be half as good as he was in college, it'd have to be considered a worthy risk for San Francisco to take.
