Cortez Kennedy Hall of Fame Career: NFL Films Takes Us Down Memory Lane

Six former NFL players will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton this August. One of those players is all-time Seattle Seahawks great Cortez Kennedy. Seahawks fans hold a deep and longstanding fondness for the big man and NFL Films offers a chance to relive one of his greatest seasons.

The always-amazing production team at NFL Films put together a segment on Kennedy's 1992 season, which netted him the Defensive Player of the Year Award. You can view it by clicking this link right here.

Clare Farnsworth at the official Seahawks website also offered a perspective on Kennedy's impressive years and the huge defensive plays he routinely made.

With Kennedy, it wasn’t just that he stopped running backs behind the line in ‘92, it was who he stopped: Emmitt Smith, Marcus Allen, Eric Dickerson and Hershel Walker, among others.

And then it wasn’t just who he stopped, but when he stopped them: Allen for a 2-yard loss on third-and-1; Steve Smith for a 3-yard loss on third-and-5; and Nick Bell for a 1-yard loss on third-and-1. All three plays game in the same game against the Raiders.

Farnsworth's column is a vital look at a true Hall of Famer. It is definitely worth checking out, particularly if you weren't around to see Kennedy while he was still wreaking havoc in Seattle.
