The Panthers will be without two defensive stalwarts on Sunday against the visiting Seattle Seahawks, as linebacker Jon Beason and cornerback Chris Gamble are both inactive.
Beason had been listed as doubtful for Sunday's game due to lingering knee and shoulder issues, and his injury means that rookie first-round pick Luke Kuechly will start for Beason at middle linebacker. Kuechly had been starting at weak side linebacker in Ron Rivera's defense. Gamble is out with a shoulder strain.
The Panthers' offense will also be missing a critical player, with offensive lineman Geoff Hangartner sidelined for Sunday's matchup. The center/guard will miss the game with a knee injury.
Other inactives for the Panthers include quarterback Jimmy Clausen, receiver and return specialist Joe Adams, defensive end Thomas Keiser and safety D.J. Campbell.
The Seahawks will be without guard John Moffitt, receiver Charly Martin, strong safety Winston Guy, cornerbacks Danny Gorrer and Jeremy Lane and defensive tackles Jaye Howard and Greg Scruggs.
