Seahawks Free Agency 2012: Marcus Trufant Not Expected Back Next Season, According To Report

The Seattle Seahawks have wrapped up their 2011 season and are now watching the postseason from home. While the players now turn their attention to rest, training, preparation and unwinding, the Seahawks front office must buckle down for the changes that will need to be made before the 2012 season kicks off. These preparations include roster moves, the 2012 NFL Draft and, of course, free agency.

According to ESPN 710 Seattle, the Seahawks may opt not to bring back 31-year-old cornerback Marcus Trufant for 2012. ESPN's John Clayton anticipates that Trufant will not return due to the depth that the team has at his position.

"You realize now Brandon Browner is a first alternate to the Pro Bowl, Richard Sherman has done a great job, and they get Walter Thurmond back," Clayton told "The Kevin Calabro Show" on Thursday. "Those are the three corners."

Trufant has been with the Seahawks since he was drafted in the first round by the team in 2003. He has been plagued by injuries in recent seasons.
