NFL Mock Draft 2012: Seahawks May Try For QB Ryan Tannehill

The Seattle Seahawks are entering the 2012 NFL Draft with some specific needs, one of which is a strong quarterback to shore up the depth chart and prepare for a not-too-distant future without current QB Tarvaris Jackson.

The Seahawks will have the No. 12 overall pick in the draft, so top arms Andrew Luck and recent Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III will be long-gone by then, but the Seahawks can still snare a definite top prospect with their placement in the draft order.

Website New NFL Draft suggests that the Seahawks will opt to target Ryan Tannehill of Texas A&M, whom they rank as the No. 3 quarterback in the 2012 draft. Here's what they have to say:

The Seattle Seahawks need to get a QB in this 2012 NFL Mock Draft. The Seahawks have to take Ryan Tannehill in this NFL Mock Draft because they don't have a top tier QB and Barkley and Landry Jones (hasn't decided yet so could still declare in the 2012 NFL Draft) seem to both be going back to school. After the game with Andrew Luck and Brandon Weeden I think that Weeden has the potential to be a first round selection. With that being said because Weeden is 28 I would be surprised if he went before the 4th round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

Tannehill finished the 2011 season with a 61.6 completion percentage, going 327-for-531 on pass attempts and finishing with 3,744 passing yards. He had 29 touchdowns against 15 interceptions.
