Seahawks Safety Earl Thomas Voted Second-Team AP All-Pro

Seahawks safety Earl Thomas got a little more well-deserved recognition today when he was voted to the 2nd-team as an NFL All-Pro for the 2011 season. The team is voted on by 50 members of the media around the country and is considered one of the highest honors for a player, particularly when compared to the Pro-Bowl selections, where fan-voting and injuries, players dropping out, and a higher number of spots tend to water down the significance.

The Seahawks' defensive scheme is pretty well centered around Earl's range and instincts, as they play a cover-one a majority of the time that means Thomas is responsible for the deep middle of the field. He did his job well there, and the Seahawks were near the league leaders in denying big plays of more than 20+ yards.

Pittsburgh's Troy Polamalu and San Diego's Eric Weddle were the players voted to the 1st-team All-Pro list.
