The Seattle Seahawks have a lot of weaknesses that need addressing in the offseason. One of those weaknesses is the need for improved pass rushing. To that end, the Seahawks will be looking to the 2012 NFL Draft to help fill some holes.
One of the possibilities is addressed over at mock draft website Draft Tek. In their latest mock draft, the analysts at Draft Tek suggest that the Seahawks may use their second-round draft pick to select Clemson Tigers defensive end Andre Branch as the No. 44 overall selection. Here is their take:
Last week's selection at this spot, Tyler Wilson QB/Arkansas announced his intentions to return for his senior season; thus, the pool of early round caliber quarterbacks continues to shrink, making it less likely the Hawks will find that elusive QBOTF in the 2012 draft. But let's not lose all hope Seahawks fans, as there are still holes to fill and big talent left to acquire! 1st team All-ACC DE Andre Branch of Clemson is a force to be reckoned with on the edge. The 6'4, 260 lb Branch is a high motor guy who does an excellent job of chasing down the QB and catching RB's from behind. He can be explosive off the line at times, but occasionally hesitates and can sometimes struggle against athletic tackles who force him outside. If Branch works on developing a quicker and more consistent first step, he could become a more than suitable successor for the aging Chris Clemons.
Certainly more help would be welcomed by the Seahawks where pass rushers are concerned. Branch may be a good option for the team to consider.
