NFL Power Rankings: Pete Prisco Hates Seattle Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs

I was hoping SB Nation's NFL Power Rankings were an indicator of where the Seattle Seahawks stood after a Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. At No. 23, the Seahawks weren't quite down in the dumps, despite a rough loss that included two Ted Ginn touchdowns before fans knew what hit them. And now that we've seen other power rankings, it appears the Seahawks are, well, cellar-dwellers.

ESPN had the Seahawks at No. 31, one step away from the bottom of the barrel. This, in all likelihood, was a more accurate representation of where Seattle lies. In fact, it seems to be a near-consensus.

Over at CBS, Pete Prisco brings the hate while ranking the Seahawks at No. 31, as well. However, he might be misunderstanding what's going on with the Seahawks quarterback spot.

You have to wonder what they were thinking deciding to go with Tarvaris Jackson. It's going to be a long season.

On the plus side, at least the Kansas City Chiefs are ranked lower. We try to find the simple things in life while searching for at least a glimmer of sunshine.

And yes, we know Tarvaris Jackson is the Seahawks quarterback. We also know Charlie Whitehurst is the backup and the 2011 NFL Draft class was incredibly thin at the quarterback spot. Was anyone looking at Andy Dalton, Colin Kaepernick and the rest of the crew and thinking, "Yep. That'll solve it"? Didn't think so.

And so we wait. The 2012 draft class looks much better on paper and if the Seahawks struggle this year, there should be a shiny prize waiting at the end of a dark tunnel of despair. But just one week into the season, we still don't know just how bad, or not so bad, the Seahawks are.
