Fullback Mike Karney paid a visit to the Seattle Seahawks but leaves town without a contract, according to ESPN's John Clayton. The Seahawks may be waiting to analyze their current roster before they make Karney an offer, but at this point everything is speculation.
Karney is a seven-year veteran fullback, beginning his NFL career with the New Orleans Saints after leaving Arizona State University and being selected in the fifth round (156th overall pick) of the 2004 NFL Draft. He spent five years with the Saints, posting 394 total yards (rushing and receiving) and 12 touchdowns.
Karney spent the last two seasons with the St. Louis Rams and was seldom. He recorded 50 total yards from 2009 to 2010 with zero touchdowns and is looking for a new home as a free agent this year.
The Seahawks continue to tinker with their roster in the final weeks before the 2011 regular season. A move to acquire Karney would likely call for another move elsewhere on the roster.
