Pete Carroll is known for his little publicity stunts, both when he was a coach with the USC Trojans and the Seattle Seahawks. I doubt it has anything to do with attention-hogging; it's just natural to Pete, who likes looking at the optimistic side of things and flushes the negativity out of his system.
So it should come as no surprise that he would try and goad Seattle native and NBA Slam Dunk champion Nate Robinson into coming in and trying out for the Seahawks.
Robinson is no stranger to the gridiron. He played high school football at Rainier Beach High (as well as basketball and track), winning AAA player of the year honors, and was considered SuperPrep's 17th best athlete that year. Although he was a star for the Washington Huskies basketball team in helping them to a Sweet 16 appearance his junior year, his most famous play was an interception in the 4th quarter of the Apple Cup against the 3rd-ranked Cougars.
So this nonchalant repartee...it doesn't mean much, right?

This is just good fun, right? ....Right? (The Seahawks do have cornerback deficiencies...) It'd be one heck of a story if it went any further though.
