There's a moment of Seattle head coaching synergy going on right now, and it's kind of amazing. Sometime this morning, Pete Carroll was given the keys to the official Washington athletics Twitter account. A USC guy is in charge of the Huskies' Twitter account. Let that sink in.
Naturally, because Carroll is a little social media butterfly, the results have been kind of hilarious. His first order of business was RickRolling the 10,000 followers of the Huskies' account, followed by an announcement of the hacking. All that was followed by Washington head coach Steve Sarkisian jumping in on the action.
After the jump, a rundown of the tweets, just in case they're deleted (they won't be).
just hacked into the @UWAthletics account... this is going to be fun... where you at @CoachSark??
well hello there huskies... you've been hacked!! -pc
#SOTD! you've been "RickRoll'd"! http://t.co/jyw7AaI -pc
Hey @PeteCarroll how did you hack into the @UWAthletics account? Always knew you wanted to be a Dawg!
Of course, this is some brilliant social media strat by UW. Letting Pete Carroll take the reigns for a while spices up the Twitter account and allows for a bit of cross-promotion. After all, Carroll does have nearly 500,000 followers, and could likely share a few with the Huskies.
