The Brandon Mebane sweepstakes continues to roll on as the Seattle Seahawks were reportedly "very close" to a deal Thursday night, but nothing ever came to fruition according to Dave Meher of KJR 950 AM.
Seattle has gone from being one of the only serious suitors for Mebane's services early on Thursday, to thinking that he was possibly too expensive and were out of the running later that day, to having serious discussions with him the same night and getting ever so close to inking him to a new contract.
His asking price is still unknown, but the fact that the two sides can't come up with a deal says a lot about where the two sides are in negotiations right now. But if no one else is chomping at the bit to swoop him up for their squad there may be some truth to the fact that he wants to stay a Seahawk for the longterm.
