The Denver Broncos are looking at multiple players to upgrade their defensive lineup, but you can scratch Brandon Mebane's name off the list of potential suitors if reports coming out of Denver on Thursday night are true. The Seahawks DT will likely be too expensive for Denver to sign, and the Broncos have dropped their pursuit of Mebane.
The news came courtesy of this tweet from Arnie Stapleton:
#Broncos not in sweepstakes for #BrandonMebane, #Seahawks DT too pricey for them
While the price tag for Mebane is unknown at this point, he will have to look elsewhere for employment than Denver. The tackle out of the University of California has been in the league since 2007, where he has been a starter each year for Seattle. He has recorded ten sacks and 148 tackles in that time span.
Denver will continue to search for a defensive tackle and will likely add at least one within the week. As for the Seahawks, the team will continue to try and re-sign Mebane in the near future, perhaps as soon as Friday, if the two sides are able to come to terms.
