A torrent of reports have come flooding in indicating Matt Hasselbeck will not be back with Seattle. Charles Robinson floated a report in an off-hand way a short time ago, but it now appears Hasselbeck's time with the Seahawks is officially done. The Seahawks were steadfast in limiting any offer to Hasselbeck to a one-year contract, and have back off significantly since March, the last time the two sides negotiated, according to a report.
Seattle Times Seahawks reporter Danny O'Neil took a firm stance on Hasselbeck just moments ago, tweeting that he's filed a story on Hasselbeck not coming back to Seattle.
Filed to The Seattle Times: Matt Hasselbeck will not re-sign with the Seattle #Seahawks.
In addition to O'Neil's report, 950 KJR personality Dave "Softy" Mahler tweeted the Seahawks and Hasselbeck have not spoken since March.
Source tells me Hawks and Hasselbeck haven't spoken since March. Hawks only willing to offer 1 year deal.
This is about as firm a word as we're going to get on Hasselbeck, and it seems he'll end up in one of the rumored destinations that have popped up on Tuesday morning. The Tennessee Titans, San Francisco 49ers, Arizona Cardinals and Miami Dolphins are all reportedly in the mix with the Seahawks now out of the picture.
Seattle has options moving forward and has been linked to a variety of quarterbacks available via a trade or free agency. Tarvaris Jackson's name keeps coming up, as has Kevin Kolb's and Carson Palmer's. But the situation remains fluid, and nothing firm has been reported as of Tuesday afternoon.
