Finally, we have some kind of firm report on Matt Hasselbeck's status as it relates to the Seattle Seahawks. For weeks, we've heard Hasselbeck probably won't be returning to Seattle, but the door has been left open. But if Charles Robinson, a solid source of information from Yahoo!, is correct, it's not happening, and it's time for Seahawks fans to move on.
Robinson took to Twitter a short time ago to talk about the Kevin Kolb sweepstakes, saying Seattle was in on the Philadelphia quarterback. But it was his note about Hasselbeck that seemed about as firm as any out there that raised some eyebrows.
In other news, Arizona favorite for Kevin Kolb, but don't sleep on Seattle. Hasselbeck not re-signing with the Seahawks. Seattle in the race
Hasselbeck is still weighing his options, with the Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans all making a play for his services. He may end up in Tennessee, where he can serve as a mentor to Jake Locker and a stop-gap to the future. But it's looking more like Hasselbeck will not be back in Seattle in a move that's sure to disappoint some fans.
With the unpredictable nature of free agency, there's always a chance the news can change. But all signs are now pointing to Hasselbeck ending his career elsewhere, and the Seahawks moving on to another quarterback option.
