NFL Free Agency Rumors: Sidney Rice An Option For Seattle Seahawks

At this point, the Seattle Seahawks may become the West Coast version of the Minnesota Vikings. As it stands, Seattle has already brought Darrell Bevell, a former Vikings offensive coordinator, into the mix in the same role. Now, the Seahawks are looking at two free agents from Minnesota: Tarvaris Jackson and Sidney Rice.

We've known all along about Jackson, who may be a stop-gap at quarterback. But on Tuesday, Rice's name emerged, and he may be a solid fit in Seattle.

NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora reports the Seahawks are "making a play" for free agent WR Sidney Rice.

Seattle has deep pockets and a fairly desperate need for a legit No. 1 receiver. They also have an in with Rice, as new offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell coached him the past few years. From a fantasy perspective, it's hard to envision a scenario worse than catching passes from Tarvaris Jackson in Seattle.
Rice is a play-maker, and the Seahawks could certainly use another impact player at wide receiver. He'd compliment Mike Williams well, and could stretch the field for Seattle. He already knows the playbook from working with Bevell, and if Seattle brings in both Jackson and Rice, there would be an element of familiarity.

Of all the rumors thus far, this may be the most intriguing, and could be a hint at the Seahawks' plans.
